JU has been good to me but I feel I must be honest now that I live in the UK. I need more exposure in a UK environment. I no longer live in Africa so I cannot feed news from a begging bowl (although the bowl never ceases to exist.) My feelings on Africa remain but I need to comment more on the UK and its welfare state, its politics and its problems. I have found two sites that I shall join but I need more input: I need a site that gets to the heart of Britain's problem (Yessir, there are man...

Dear Comrade, I fully believe that there is something wrong with your mind. I mean, you are starving MDC supporters to gain votes. You are sleeping uneasily at night because of Tony Blair. You are screwing up a perfectly good country (once the breadbasket of Southern Africa), because of the disease invading your brain cells. You are dribbling and falling over during your speeches. Alas, you cannot be like Hitler, Comrade, no, God forbid that you do not wish that. But, you do act like an Afri...

It is all very well for Tony Blair to say his party has moved Britain forward. His sidekick, Mr Broon (sic), has praised himself and his party for wonders done for the aged, disabled, the unemployed, the old age pensioners, companies, the NHS et al. His new vote-grabbing budget sounds attractive to many. And they, (Labour),have done wonders. I truthfully believe that Britain (bringing down unemployment deserves major kudos), is on the right course---in some areas. However, there are some...

Tony Blair could be in for a rude shock come election time. His labour government is making fluff after fluff and I believe they are on shaky ground. Michael Howard is not a Churchillian wonderman but, like a demented fox terrier, he does not back down. His tenacious character shows that he is not pulled in by the Blair charisma so he is able to aim at the weak spots, or the underbelly, of labour. Howard has been given a whip by labourites and you cannot blame him for seeking to lash out a...

What is the World going to do about the DRC? Today, Medecins Sans Frontieres, a group of doctors providing medical help in the DRC and many other countries, has released details about mass rapes in the Northern Provinces near Uganda and Rwanda. Another news release this week mentions murders, torture and rape of the Congolese people. Perpetrators are "troops", "rebels" "Militia" and "God knows who else". I, and countless others, have nagged relentlessly about the continuing bloodbath in th...

Michael Howard said it all. I quote, roughly, " We can only provide privileges to those in Britain, we cannot provide welfare for the world." How on earth can any country expect to provide refuge for every Tom, Dick and Harry from Africa, Europe and Asia. Britain is not a lucky packet or a charity? I agree entirely with any move by the Conservatives or Labour to clamp down on illegal immigration and asylum grabbers. For goodness sake, some people try to send young children into Britain to ...

Wow, did I get a shock last week. You know how we are all so net-savvy with our blogs and mails and downloads? Well, we are. We're part of the internet revolution and if it wasn't for us Joeusers and others, Blogs would not be held in such high regard. But, but. There are sections of the business community who need to learn a few things. Listen to this: I lost a parcel, an important parcel which had been sent from city to city. The eminent company, a big one--no names, no packdrill---ha...

Depression is one of the most serious illnesses in the modern age. Coping with it, getting through it, and staying on an even keel, demands patience, strong willpower and plenty of outside help. Most medical people say there are basically two types of depression: "Normal" depression, if you can call it normal, caused by a death in the family, a divorce, loss of a job or some great traumatic event. This is usually a short-lived illness. Then there is "Endogenous" depression which afflicts f...

Nelson Mandela, probably the most revered man in the World, has called on the G7 nations to cancel Africa's debt. This is a reasonable request and would probably help some of the impoverished countries in Africa like Ethiopia,Somalia, Sudan, Mocambique and Eritrea to win some time. But why ask for every African country to be absolved? Countries like Angola, Kenya,Uganda and Nigeria are some of those who could have done better with their resources. Angola, for instance, has the second bigges...

There is no worse 'Catch 22" situation than the one you encounter when you suffer from depression. It is an illness that feeds on itself . Depressives are, by wont of their illness (and because it is a causative factor), anxious, highly strung worriers who, without being aware of it, make their situation worse by worrying about their illness. This is a natural progression, or cycle and it can lead to serious consequences. In this , the first of a series of articles on this most disabling o...

Auschwitz today bowed its solemn head and was the scene of recrimination, sorrow and forgiveness. As the fires and candles burned overhead, an amazing scene was played out in the former Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. Former prisoners re-lived their experiences behind the cold barbed wire fences---fences guarding secrets so horrible that it beggars belief. The barrack buildings, the towering chimneys of death, the horror and the deprivation----it must have shocked the newcomer and, worse, brought bac...

The United Kingdom is the land of the free and the underprivileged and they certainly prove it by allowing every Tom, Dick and Harry from wherever to settle here. Why do they allow Nigerians, Zimbabweans and citizens of every second hand state to settle here? If it's not in a legal way, i.e, some sort of grasp on British citizenship, then it's a sympathetic hand to all those who 'may' be persecuted if they return to the homeland. Why does the government say :We are dealing with those affect...

Dear Joeuser friends, I have had a great break travelling from West Africa to South Africa then the United Kingdom. I trust that you will stay with me and read my scribblings again. I am extremely concerned about the effect the internet is having on young people.Children from the age of eight are surfing the net and being exposed to risque images and risky (no pun intended),chatrooms with frustrated, unbalanced males waiting to pounce .Yes, they are usually male! We read about blocker...

The British media is full of the Queen's visit to Germany. The papers (like the Daily Express), have headlines blaring: " The Germans say you should apologise for the war Your Majesty! I hope that Bild Zeitung and the British papers have it all wrong---in fact, I hope this is just cheap publicity to sell newspapers. No way is my Queen going to apologise for the destruction of Dresden when Adolf and his chums screwed Poland and killed 3 or so Million Jews. No way! My father fought for King ...

Osama Bin Laden is no friend of the USA but after his latest video he could have George Bush kissing his feet. Imagine the perfect pre-election scenario:George W. is neck and neck with Kerry and a lightning bolt from the blue pushes the American people into the Dubya camp. If you're going to scare the shit out of any American you just need a terrorist adventurer (who is probably not as influential as he thinks--I think he's incapable of topping his 9/11attack now), who strikes fear in ever...
