Is this the right way to go?

With apologies to those US citizens who think Dubya and his faceless advisors/cabinet/hangers-on, are the next best thing to ice-cream.

I won't even go into the whole Iraq thing because, after reading recent news reports, I am worried that Iraq is going Baathist/ Husseinist, just as before. Tales of torture chambers in underground hide-outs sound very "Baathist" to me. So do rumours that the Iraqui Government is no better equipped to rule Iraq than the great Saddaam himself. Is there a message here? Are we being duped and led into a new Republic with the same moral standards? Will the infighting, corruption and ethnic tribal differences ever stop?

If you agree, does Dubya really know what's going on? Does he put two and two together? Is he aware that there is more chaos in the country now than under the Saddaam regime? Does he really know that he has reduced a cowed dog into a really depressed dog? Personally, I think the matter is far too complicated for the likes of Dubya, Oilman Cheney and boring Rice.

Where is Colin Powell now that we need him? Or, could we have another Adlai Stevenson please! Condi Rice has the biggest air ticket in the World and I don't think she makes a smack of difference. She is shrewd, clever and pretty well-informed. What she is not is Savvy, tough or heavy on the pressure. She speaks, we listen, we forget.

Dubya and his cronies are near-sighted--that's the problem. Far-sighted politicians like FDR and Truman would have sorted this problem into organised compartments long ago. Don't forget Bill Clinton who has more insight than Dubya will ever have!

Enough ranting: Saddaam should be tried in the Hague--no question. Whoever thought up the idea of bringing him to trial in Baghdad has a hidden agenda. Do they really think they will get rid of the Iraqui mentality by hanging Sadaam? Do they really have a hidden agenda? Yes, they have. There are forces at work that Dubya and his Generals cannot see. Iraq is a mess and some internal or external force will ensure it remains so.

The USA should get out as soon as possible. There is much more to this war than any sensible invader can perceive!

The trial is a complete farce. Just read the reports of Saddam's lawyers being killed. He won't get a fair trial.

I'm 100% sure that Saddam has done "evil" things, but I believe that everyone is entitled to a fair trial.

The whole thing is about oil anyway. As far as the US puling out, I can't see that happening for a long time yet.

It's amazing how many people can be fooled by a plot that is so simple that you can see through it, isn't it?

Being one of those who disagrees with the Ba'ath fascists and who has never done anything to Iraqi Shi'ites, I perceive a slight difference.

It all comes down to the fact that Bush set the train back on the track, but the Iraqis are steering it.  It was not our place to decide what to do with Hussein.  That is and was for the Iraqis to do it.  And I think you are reading too much of the Western Press that wants Bush to fail. Those 'Secret' Torture chambers have been denied, and so far all we have is a bunch of over eager Pulitzer Prize wannabees saying they do.
