---This was an open question and opinions were appreciated. Teddy R/ Truman/FDR/Reagan and Clinton stand out, in my opinion. My personal winner is FDR (he fought depression era, WW2 etc), followed by one of my heroes, Ronald Reagan, probably the most charismatic and effective President since FDR. Clinton comes 3rd and would have been respected far more if it had not been for the lady with the "deep throat"!
For the record the ex-Presidents who continued to play a role in US and world affairs after retirement were/are :Hoover/Truman/GeorgeHW Bush, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.
