Another George holds sway!
This is a completely new column from the United Kingdom. It is topical and controversial, as it's meant to be. No conclusions should be drawn as to bias, but there will be anti-US sentiments and pro-US sentiments expressed. I sit on the fence as there's bad and good in every society. I admire the United States of America and the United Kingdom as well so let's say that I praise where praise is deserved and come down hard on the lawmakers when it is deserved. NEWS AT FIVE will report weekly on the pros and cons of would-be World Governance
Today, one of my heroes, George Galloway, (Respect MP), a Scotsman, as I am, took on the US Senate and proved to them that he is no pussycat. Unfortunately, the honourable senators were not as well-prepared as Mr Galloway and there were inconsistencies in dates and facts. The US Senate is an honourable institution, but one wonders whether, like the McCarthy witchhunt of the fifties, the Senate is hiding behind speculation rather than fact.
I do hope that they are well-prepared, because, if they are not, this Scotsman will give them a hiding unheard of in the corridors of Washington power. Galloway is no fool and should he be pushed too far, he'll push back. He is a formidable opponent of wrongdoing and does not suffer fools gladly. I'm not so naive to believe that "Oor George" can take on the Senate but he may just show them that power means integrity rather than bullshit allegations.
