Mugabe outvoted: Still rules.
Published on April 26, 2008 By adnauseam In Current Events

More results are flowing in from Zim after a re-count aimed at boosting Mugabe's lead in the recent elections. There was no parliamentary gain for Comrade Robert, and the MDC, Morgan Tsangvirai's party, has clearly won. However, in a country like Zimbabwe nothing is regarded as normal. While the President in waiting sits outside the country, Mugabe's thugs clamp down on the MDC and brutally beat the winning party faithful. Like Sese Seko and Tshombe and countless others the thugs appear when they are losing. This is not just a coup d' etat----this is a dictatorial rejection of an election.

Zimbabwe reminds me of South Africa until De Klerk came to his senses. It also reminds me of a brutal regime that will not abdicate power---you do not have enough fingers to count them off. However, there is some sunshine: African states have agreed to an arms embargo on Zimbabwe and that is a start. There is talk of Mugabe fading into the background gracefully as he is a "lion of Liberation"

I wonder. He should be hung in a public square like Mussolini. Bugger the "lion of liberation." He has murdered thousands, cannot produce a good corn cob from his lands and has crippled his land in every way. He has displaced 3 million of his citizens and torn their houses down. He has won the world record for inflation in a country and his country is bankrupt, bleeding and broken.

Does this man deserve a worthwhile retirement?

I agree that MUGABE should have been taken out a long time ago. I majored in military intelligence and come from a famous military family, and I think we should police the world, personally. I am afraid of a one world government, but I sure would like to see the un with an army that could pull rapid responses. I do not think these people should necessarily be killed, I think they should be tried, and all the truth can get out for history. But what do I know? Thank you for all the vital information.

Unfortunately most of th US, and the rest of the world disagree with you. It is what the UN was created for, although they are useless as well.

Yes, stealthyone, I agree but the powers that be in Africa would never put Mugabe in the Hague. He is seen as a hero.

Doc, I agree, the UN is useless--they have dragged their feet over Darfur and Zimbabwe is not likely to get their attention. The UN is basically an impotent group dominated by the will of the US and their charter is worthless.
