Just pick up the phone and voila, it's here.
I do enjoy living in Cairo. One reason is, that It is, probably, the mecca of home delivery in Africa, if not the World. Here are some insights that will probably boggle your mind:
-My British newspapers and my auto magazines are delivered to my door twice a week. I receive the Sunday Times on the next day, Monday.
- If I want a Pizza, a burger or a Chinese meal, I log on to a home delivery site that delivers in twenty minutes.Yes, there's MacDonalds, Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, Hardees, KFC and a hundred others.
- Need an antibiotic? Pick up the phone and speak to your friendly pharmacist who will deliver (without prescription), well after midnight.
-It's a Muslim country but never mind. Order a dozen beers at ten at night if you like. Ten minutes later you'll have a cold can in your hand.
-Your local grocery store will collect your shopping list (at 2:00am if you like, no kidding), and deliver thirty minutes later.
And, if all else fails, you can send your houseman (porter, cleaner and security guard all in one), out to find string, a screwdriver, dog food, light bulbs and potting soil.
We're spoilt, I know, but this country thrives on home delivery because it provides employment and many people work quite late. It's great and best of all those phone calls cost less than 10 dollars every three months.
I'll tell you more soon.
