...make for an interesting presidential race.

As a Historian and not a politician, I always get excited by a presidential election. I like to compare men (and women now), and their philosophies, personalities and their ideals for America. Tonight I heard Barack Obama's speech and I was struck by his charisma, his articulate speech and the common sense he spoke. I panned the audience and found as many whites as blacks excited by Obama's stirring words.

Obama has a long way to go but if he is significant of the type of candidate coming up to bat then I hope that America, in the not too distant future, will be steered by stong men (or women, who have the courage of their convictions and who seek global peace rather than war.

His biggest asset is also his biggest liability.  No track record.  I think he is running to prepare himself for 12.  This is just for the experience, and to get the skeletons out of the closet.

Agree with you Doc but he is a force to reckon with in the nominations.

Yep, I agree. I do hope his 'lack of experience', to quote Doc, actually works in his favour. Sometimes, it is better to let the colt run rather than the old work horse.
