How do Joeusers feel about..
Published on November 5, 2006 By adnauseam In Current Events
Saddam, the tyrant ruler has been sentenced to death. I don't think there was any doubt that he would be. I'd be interested to know from JU stalwarts (and others), your opinions on the following thoughts:

DO you think the insurgency will worsen after this verdict? Will Iraq explode or find peace?
Do you think that the sentencing will have any effect on the mid-term election results?
Don't you feel robbed of justice when trials in the Hague take so long? Milosevic deserved to hang too.

Look forward to your comments.

Will Iraq explode or find peace?

Try never. Waiting for peace before me pull out of Iraq is a lost cause, 'cuz it ain't gonna happen.

I never had any doubt about what the verdict would be. I found it quite amusing that the prick refused to stand to hear the verdict and had to be hauled up out of his seat. What an ass.

I don't think this will have much effect on our elections as it isn't a surprise that he was found guilty.

As for peace in Iraq, once he is swinging at the end of a rope perhaps the Shiia and Kurds will relax a little but the Sunni will be even more nervous than they already are. The Sunni minority has ruled in Iraq for centuries and aren't happy about not doing so now. Unless those groups learn to work together and identify themselves as Iraqis first and Sect second, there will likely never be peace there. At the moment they don't really have a national identity among themselves.

I agree with the consensus on the verdict, and I dont think it will have any impact on the elections.  It was a little peyton place being enacted in Iraq to bring closure to his regime.

I just pity the poor rope that has to touch the scum.
