I really enjoyed Trudygolightly's best smells. The thought of fresh bread being baked in a bakery still has my neurons in a spin. The best.

What about sounds? I compiled a list of the worst and best sounds. First, 5 most irritating sounds.
* Car burglar alarm. Can't stand that noise.
* Sound of an animal tied up or in pain. Gets to me emotionally.
* The sound of a chair scraping on a tiled floor.
* The sound of a small child screaming its head off in a supermarket when it can't have what it wants. Smack, smack!
* I can't leave out my alarm clock. I positively hate it!

I wanted to leave it at 5 but if my local supermarket continues to play Kenny G all day,every day, it will rank as the most irritating sound I have heard.

5 nice sounds:
* Popping open a cold can of the best.
* The sound of a Ferrari in full cry (and the burbling of an American V8).
* The "cree, cree, cree,cree whee" of the Goshawk living near my building. It provides some sanity for those of us in this massive city.
* The sound of a big band playing a good foxtrot tune. Not only do my feet tap but I'm swinging around the floor in my mind.
* The sound of laughter--a great tonic.

I'm sure you can think of lots.

Thank you for the mention adnauseaum   appreciate that.

Sounds?  oh ya!  goood

Sounds I can't tolerate?

1. Jackhammers, vehicles with loud exhaust systems, adults screaming at each other, sirens, and hearing a baby crying and I can't comfort it.

Sounds I love,  music,  water bubbling,  laughing, birds singing, and even though it's musical in nature,  I LOVE the sound of snare drums!  in a parade I can hear them no matter how far away they.  I played snare drum in high school,  now my heart is the drum..

If nails on a chalk board is not in the top 5 irritating sounds?  GAG!

But pretty good list.  I would not add Kenny G.

To the good ones, a Mozart Symphony!

Oddly enough, some sounds that positively bug me are things that I really ought to get used to because they're a part of life:

Mouse clicks (especially someone else's clicks when I'm in the next room trying to read silently);

My OWN child screaming or whining;

The computer humming all night long when I forget to close the bedroom door.

I love the sound of absolute silence. It's my favorite. Or silence outdoors, birds calling and grass & trees fluttering in the wind.
