..and not so corrupt.

This list was posted on www.iafrica.com. I found it interesting but don't totally agree:

LEAST corrupt countries:

Finland
IceLand
New Zealand
Denmark
Singapore
Sweden
Switzerland
Norway
Australia
Netherlands

Most Corrupt:

Haiti (no surprise).
Myanmar
Iraq (terminal-don't think it should rate!)
Guinea
Sudan (Oh yes!)
DRCongo
Chad
Bangladesh
Uzbekistan
Equatorial Guinea (Don't agree--should be above DR Congo).

The least corrupt African State was Botswana (Yes, totally agree), at 37th place. I have visited 3 times and their attitude is "get better". Their currency is also one of the strongest in Africa.

Zimbabwe came in at 20 below Equatorial Guinea and I don't agree. Although there are some judicial and economic systems in place, Mugabe has to rate higher on the list due to his tyrranical rule. I would position him above the DRC (severe problems incurred due to pressure from neighbouring plunderers).

For interests sake the UK was the in 11th position, just off the top ten, and the USA was the 20th least corrupt country (this is interesting because the USA was only 17 places higher than Botswana). I'd be interested to know why the USA is not in the top ten.

Do Joeusers agree or disagree? Go to my link for further details.

I guess it would require we see what criteria they graded the countries on.

I could not get the link to the article on the list open?

The article is at http://business.iafrica.com/news/389330.htm or Link

More interesting, perhaps, is the original source at Link

"The 2006 Corruption Perceptions Index is a composite index that draws on multiple expert opinion surveys that poll perceptions of public sector corruption in 163 countries around the world, the greatest scope of any CPI to date. It scores countries on a scale from zero to ten, with zero indicating high levels of perceived corruption and ten indicating low levels of perceived corruption."

Corruption would have to be pretty hard to measure (Question 1: Did you steal? Question 2: Did you lie to Question 1?) On the other hand, beware that this is based on perception, expert perception, but perception nonetheless.

Oh, when I "this" in the last sentence, I meant the Corruptions Perception Index.

Thanks for the article, adnauseum.

! I can see some of those countries answering those questions!

Cuba - We have no corruption!  Throw the questioner in Jail until he beleives that.
